“Bart” is from my first homebred litter, and the start could not have been better. His being so enthusiastic when he is working, his pleasing me in every way, his great show attitude and wonderful temperament within the family are the elements that make up my ideal Golden Retriever. All this has led him to prestigeous and unequalled achievements in the show ring and on the field, making him one of the most titled Golden Retrievers.

I started training “Bart” when he was six months old, throwing a dummy at him just for fun. Right from the start, I said to myself “this dog is a cut above”. Even at an early age he looked like an adult dog because of his great balance and soundness; this has for sure helped me a lot because I was a novice in the training field - just like him - and when I incidentally happened to do something wrong, he was firmly ready to do the same. 

Throughout the years, people with great experience have helped and taught me, giving me the chance to show the extraordinary and probably unique qualities of this wonderful dog, who later became International Dual Champion.This makes “Bart” the only Golden in the history of the breed to become International Dual Champion, that is International Field Trial Champion and International Conformation Champion. 

When sometimes I get to think about it, I still can't believe it. Maybe because I did not even dare to dream about winning a CACIT abroad, many excellent dogs try so hard for their whole life. And then, when you do not expect it, here comes the right, perfect competition. Of course the way to success has not always been easy, but long and tough. Not quite as much as the many, many hours of training though. 

I have learnt that having a dog with good natural qualities is only the first step, then it is about work and dedication to training. But this work is so rewarding and pleasing! His pedigree is a “Show Line Golden” pedigree. 

This proves that there is no distinction between show dogs and working dogs: there are only good retrievers who are able to do what they were bred for. I don't know if in the future I'll be blessed with another gift such as “Bart”, but for now he is my ONCE IN A LIFETIME dog
