Int & BE FT Ch. Abbotsleigh Niger

Abbotsleigh Niger or Shelby as he is called at home, we chose in the first place because he is bred back to FT Ch. Mansengreen Diesel, who was a litter brother to Pieter's first field trial champion, FT Ch. Mansengreen Dizzy. 

Shelby is out of FT Ch. Kestrelway Freddy which always pleased our eye, but also a grandson of FT Ch. Abbotsleigh Emu, which was 2nd at the 2013 IGL Retriever Championship.

Shelby is a very hard going, but biddable and very trainable dog. In our opinion he has the perfect temperament. Very easy in the kennel between the other dogs as well as in the house enjoying our company. Being an honest dog, his most important quality is the right balance between obedience and natural abilities, he likes working with you and for you.

Shelby competed in 3 open workingtest, winning two and one second as well as being a member of the wining team at the IWT 2022 in Austria and the same team that came second at the IWT 2023 in Sweden.

Shelby has won 7 field trials until now, came 2nd twice and getting 2 “very good” qualifications. Out of 18 runs, which proves his consistency.

He qualified for the Belgian Championship two times and in 2022 he qualified for and won the Austrian - Hungarian championship. Also in 2022 he represented Belgium at the European Championship in Finland.
